Types of beehives and their advantages and disadvantages

1、Barrel beehive

The development of the bee colony is closer to nature, but the disadvantage is that it is inconvenient in the management of the bee colony, especially when the honey is taken, it is easy to hurt the bee colony.

Lattice beehive is one of the traditional beehives in my country. It is named for its composition of multiple grids. In fact, it is quite an advanced traditional beehive. The advantage is that it inherits the natural beekeeping method of wooden barrel beehives, and it can be flexibly used to increase or reduce the box circle. In order to adjust the space of the hive, it is not convenient to hide it in the management of the bee colony. Other names include Langstroth 10 frame beehive, 10 frame standard beehive, etc. As the name suggests, this kind of box beehive can carry ten frames. The advantage is that this kind of beehive not only conforms to the living habits of Italian bees, And it is particularly suitable for modern beekeeping production. The disadvantage is that this beehive may be slightly small when the colony of bees is too large.

The 12-frame square beehive is one of the living frame Italian beehives. Other names include Soviet-style Dadan beehives, improved Dadan beehives, etc. This kind of beehive can accommodate twelve frames. The advantage is that it can be adjusted into a "warm beehive" in winter. In summer, it can be adjusted to a "cold beehive". The disadvantage is that the box is too heavy to carry, and the box is too large to produce honeycomb honey.
